Welcome to a long awaited new issue of the Burgh Buzz . I know from feedback around the town that the Buzz has been sorely missed. It has taken almost a year to form a team to do the work done previously by Andy and Jinti Wight-Boycott. I hope you will be patient with us as we learn and grow into the job, particularly your Editor who is learning new desk top publishing skills.
We bring you a round up of news and of the many developments in the town over the past year. Community organisations are thriving and we bring you updates on their work. The sudden and untimely death of Councillor Wullie Leggatt prompted the third local council election in four years in the ward of Auchtertool and Burntisland East. You can read an interview with new Councillor, George Kaye, in this issue of the Burgh Buzz.
The new editorial team intend to build on the best of the past while introducing some new features. Exiles Corner and other old favourites will be back in the next issue. Young people too often receive bad press, so for our first issue our reporters Jill Potrykus and Michael Thompson bring you articles about some of what is available for young people in the town and about different ways in which young people communicate. We hope these will be of interest to both younger and older readers.
Our thanks go to Andy and Jinti for all the work they have done since the start of the Burgh Buzz , and for the help Andy is continuing to give while we find our feet - we have not let him retire quite yet. Andy along with his wife, Jinti, produced the Burgh Buzz for its first seven years. They took it, over 29 issues, from its initial 8 pages to 20. Andy is committed to steering us clear of the pitfalls that they encountered. You can also read in this issue an interview with Jinti and Andy about their first steps in making a nautical retirement dream come true.
The team look forward to working together on the Burgh Buzz to bring you the news and views which reflect the life and interests of the people of Burntisland. Most of all we long to hear from you, our readers and we invite you to give us feedback and suggestions about what you would like to see in your community newspaper.
