Burgh Buzz Policies

Some of these policies have been in operation for a long time and others have become necessary recently.   Here we spell them out for clarity and transparency.

SUMMER QUEEN

Burntisland's tradition of having an annual "Summer Queen" is set to continue, partly thanks to the decision of a local business to offer the organising committee an unprecedented sponsorship deal.

Sarah Hathaway, Manager of the Magnus Morton gift store in the town's High Street, said, " We have had a good first year in business and this sponsorship is an ideal opportunity to put something back into the community."

This year's crowning ceremony is being organised by Diane Smith, who is delighted about the deal which enables this year's Queen and her attendants to have new outfits.   Diane said, " I am particularly pleased since Sarah has agreed that the Magnus Morton sponsorship will continue for at least three years and this means we can plan for the future knowing that our expenses are taken care of."

Whilst Diane has been busy recruiting the 2006 Summer Queen, in conjunction with the local primary school, Sarah is looking to find photographs and other memorabilia from previous years in order to mount a nostalgic display.   If you have anything of interest which you are prepared to loan, it can be handed in to the Magnus Morton store.

This year' s crowning ceremony will take place on Saturday 17 th June following which the new Magnus Morton Summer Queen will lead the Civic Week Parade.
