Lost Children's Home

Is anyone able to help? I am trying to find out the name and location (and any other relevant information) about a Children's Care Home, or it may have been a Children's Orphanage, which was located in the town of Burntisland, certainly during the years 1944-48. I understand that it was a fairly small Children's Home and may even have been a large private house, converted for this purpose.

I don't know if this is relevant, but, after doing some research on the Home, I discovered that in 1883 there was a 'Home for girls and little ones'   at 2 Craigholm Terrace, Burntisland and another 'for boys' at 1 Craigholm Terrace, Burntisland.   Apparently, the opening of these Children's Homes was due to an - EMMA M. STIRLING, who had also opened up Children's Homes in Edinburgh. I wondered if these 'Homes' were still in use in the 1940s.

Free Guitar Workshop!                                                                                                    

Any acoustic guitarists who fancy honing their skills are invited to a free guitar workshop in the Sands Hotel on Tues 16 th May at 7:00pm.   This informal session is aimed at those who can strum a few chords but want to learn more, or want to learn how to finger-pick to accompany singing.   It will be focused around traditional material but may digress depending on the interests of those attending.   All you need is an acoustic guitar and a willingness to learn and share ideas in an informal atmosphere.   Depending on interest this may be the start of a series of these workshops which could lead on to cover other topics such as:

• understanding chords and harmony
• bass runs
• capos and key changes
• learning to accompany songs by ear
• playing melodies.
