Burntisland is in for a busy time, with lots of construction and improvement work now under way or starting soon. As far as possible, all work has been scheduled for completion before the peak of the tourist season. The work includes:
Beach and prom improvements
Links water feature
High Street re-surfacing and landscaping
Seamill and Castle improvements
All weather pitch
Skateboard park
Upgraded and new shelters on the Links.

Ramsay Leuchars has been appointed a full member of the Community Council.
Plans for six re-cycling points in Burntisland received a welcome in principle and recommendations were made for alternative locations in some cases. Final proposals are awaited.
Proposals for car parking on the Toll Park received a mixed response. Whilst there is a need for additional parking, the loss of green space is a high price to pay.
A new Events Strategy Group has been formed, chaired by David Plant, to drive a higher profile for Burntisland and to co-ordinate a programme of events for local people and tourists alike.
The Burntisland Blooms project goes from strength to strength. Grant aid has been awarded by the Burntisland Development Trust. Planter locations have been identified and materials are being sourced now.
Representatives will visit the Fife Police Contact Centre in order to learn first hand about the co-ordinated response to local incidents.
An extended Links Development Group will ensure local representation on the management and maintenance of the Links.
Planning will start early this year for the 2006 Christmas lights. Permission will be obtained from appropriate owners before installation begins.
There has been lots of correspondence following our objection to the proposal for ship to ship transfers in the Forth. We were represented when the topic was debated at the Scottish Parliament. A final decision is awaited.
After several years of pushing, the compulsory purchase order for the Palace Cinema is now in progress. Much remains to be done in terms of alternative proposals for planning permission. Watch this space.
Meetings of the Community Council are held on the second Friday of each month, in the Burgh Chambers, at 7:00pm. All are welcome. Topics for the agenda should be with the Secretary a week beforehand.

As part of Herbal Medicine Awareness Week 2006, there will an exhibition in Burntisland Library from 20-26th May. This will focus on the use of herbs for treating stress and stress-related conditions.
